How the Tool Works Internally

This tool leverages modified image generation models, treating your image as a composition of many smaller images. When the tool upscales, it regenerates these parts, filling in new details that would otherwise be lost in traditional upscaling.

Note: While this method is exceptional for high-resolution images, for smaller images, it may perform similarly to tools like Stable Diffusion or Midjourney. The tool truly shines at larger resolutions, where traditional methods struggle.

Limitations

While Infinite Detail adds new detail and increases the resolution, it’s not a traditional upscaler. If you're looking for simple resolution enhancements with minimal changes, lowering the creativity setting can help, but you may want to consider alternative solutions. However, we’re also working on adding traditional upscaling options to upsampler.com in the future.

The Settings Explained

To give you full control over your image enhancements, we offer a few adjustable settings that you can tweak.

1. Style

We use different models for processing your images, each trained for a specific style. Currently, you can select from:

• Universal: Works well for a wide range of images.
• Realism: Best for photographs and realistic scenes.
• Illustration: Optimized for stylized, anime, game assets, and other non-photorealistic digital artwork.

We’ll add more styles as we continue to expand the tool.

2. Texture

The Default texture is powerful for changing an image’s composition, especially useful for AI-generated images with minor flaws. It also works well for enhancing non-photorealistic images. However, if you want hyper-realistic details, like fine skin texture, try the Rough texture. Here’s how you might use them:

• Default: Ideal for initial passes, enhancing composition, and fixing minor issues.
• Rough: Best for final touches, adding realism without drastically altering the composition.

3. Scale Factor

This setting controls whether to upscale or downscale the image. A scale factor of 0.5 halves the image’s dimensions, while a scale factor of 2 doubles them.

Note: Carefully consider the scale factor. The AI applies more noticeable adjustments to parts of the image around 100px in size.

• For large images, this mostly affects fine details.
• For smaller images, it can significantly alter the overall composition.

If you want to retain specific features, like a small 50px face, avoid processing it at a size where details could be drastically changed. Even with reduced AI creativity, very small features may still be heavily modified.

Instead, use an upscale factor that makes the feature large enough to retain its intended look.

4. Creativity

Creativity dictates how much freedom the AI has to reinterpret your image:

• Low Creativity: Subtle changes, preserving the original structure.
• High Creativity: Reimagines the image significantly.

A higher creativity setting is great for low-quality images that need substantial improvements or if you want to add a lot of new detail.

5. Resemblance

Resemblance controls structure retention and detailing:

• High Resemblance: Keeps the overall structure intact while forcing new details, but may negatively alter colors and brightness.
• Low Resemblance: Fewer added details with more noticeable shifts in composition, but more natural colors.

If you notice the image becoming too bright or losing contrast, consider lowering the resemblance value for a softer, more authentic look. You might also want to adjust the Intensity setting, discussed next.

6. Intensity

This setting adjusts color vibrancy, sharpness, and clarity:

• High Intensity: Boosts color, definition, and detail but can lead to over-brightening. For the 'Rough' texture, increasing Intensity adds graininess.
• Low Intensity: Softens the image, maintaining subtler tones. Setting it too low can create a washed-out look.

Balancing Intensity with Resemblance often yields the best results.

7. Prompt

While optional, adding a prompt can guide the AI in enhancing the image in a specific style. If the default output isn’t meeting your expectations, try a short, descriptive prompt to refine the look.
