Why AI Skin Looks Plastic in the First Place
Diffusion models learn from millions of retouched, compressed photos, so they generate what they saw most: smooth, poreless, evenly lit skin. At thumbnail size it looks fine; at full resolution the face reads as a mannequin. Real skin is defined by micro-imperfection: pores of varying size, fine vellus hairs, subtle pigmentation shifts, and the way light scatters slightly beneath the surface. No sharpening filter can add these, because they were never in the image. They have to be generated.
Regeneration with Control, Not a One-Click Filter
